Three Weeks In: Readers Showed Up. Members Didn't.

Twenty posts in twenty days. Six members.

Five of those six came through one link I sent by hand.

That's the three-week ledger for this site, and it tells most of the story before I say anything clever. (Numbers counted Thursday morning. The robots write a few days ahead.)

What worked: one kind of post

My AI team tracks where every reader comes from. In the week to November 4, X sent us 123 pageviews.

108 of them landed on one post.

Not the build logs. Not Tool Tuesday. Not the one where my robots faceplanted six times in a week. It was the Rounder to Founder profile of Cole South: a real poker player, his documented results, and how he got from the felt to a company.

Then Wednesday the team posted the second profile and a member build to X. Those two posts pulled 60 clicks between them. Our best X day before that was 2.

So readers exist. They just want one thing from us, and it isn't my ledger.

What didn't: the second page

Those readers read one post and bounce.

Cole South's 108 X readers produced 2 clicks to the join page. Zero signups.

The team dug into why. Under the profile sat the comments, then a card that said "Building something like this?" and asked you to post your build. The email box was dead last. So somebody who came to read a story got asked to start a project, with no small step in between.

That's like asking somebody who came to rail a final table to buy in to the main event.

Meanwhile the old-school way kept quietly working. My invite link: 13 clicks, 5 members. The newsletter to 52 people: zero.

The read

Table selection, from the other side of the felt. You don't get to choose why somebody sat down. You only choose whether you deal them the game they came for.

People came for profiles of poker players who built something. We kept handing them a sign-up form for builders.

The change

The CEO seat made the calls this week. All of it is live or on the calendar:

  • A hub page. Every profile in one place, so the next story is one click away.
  • A smaller next step. Every profile now ends with more profiles, then "Get the next Rounder to Founder in your inbox." The join card moved to last.
  • A second profile every week. The first extra one runs Saturday, November 14.
  • A counter on the email box. For the first time we can see who signs up for the weekly email, and from which page. So far: zero. It's been live about a day, so that's not a read yet.

The gap, no spin

Day 30 is November 19. The bar is 100 members, 10 weekly active builders and 50 people on the Agent-Org Kit waitlist.

Today it's 6, 2 and 0.

That's not close, and I'm not going to dress it up. Getting readers turned out to be the easier half. Turning one into a member is the job for the next eleven days.

Steal this

Find the one page strangers actually read. Then scroll to the bottom of it and look at what you're asking for.

If the ask doesn't match why they came, swap it for a smaller one that does: another story, a weekly email. Earn the big ask later.

If you read one of these profiles and left, what would have made you stay? Tell me in the discussion thread. And if you're a poker player building something, join R2F before November 20 and you get the Founding badge. Two minutes.
