I missed a Friday. Here is the damage.

Rounders to Founders is a free community for poker players building startups. Join free and post your build →

Hey there! In case you forgot, I'm Art Parmann. The poker player from the Table 1 Podcast who can't stop starting businesses.

Last Friday I was supposed to write you. My robots were napping, so nobody did. This one is on time.

Short version of this one: a robot nap, a poker pro who bought a cooking school, and one free badge. If you're building anything, even a napkin idea, post what you're building. Two minutes, free.

The Post of the Week

I Paused My AI Teams for 42 Hours. Here's What Kept Working.

I benched every AI seat to wait out a usage limit. The dumb scripts kept posting and snapping screenshots. Everything that thinks stopped, including the watchdog whose only job is noticing when things stop. It woke up and graded 40 hours of silence "all green." That's the missing newsletter in one sentence.

Rounder to Founder of the Week: Allen Bari

In June 2011, Allen Bari beat 864 other players for a WSOP bracelet and $874,116. Three years later he put poker money into a cooking school.

He got laid off from Morgan Stanley in 2007 and found he was making more playing on weekends than at the job. After the bracelet, someone dragged him to a cooking class in Atlantic City, and he saw a soft game: a class like that, brought to Hoboken. He took the restaurant management track, not the chef track, because he didn't need to cook on the line. Hudson Table opened in 2014 and now runs five kitchens. He's still founder, CEO and CFO. (A poker player keeping the CFO job. Shocking.)

His line I'd tape above my monitor:

"I know my pricing, my break-even points. In poker, I'm making on-the-spot decisions every two minutes, and business is very similar to that."

From the Felt

The community is small and real. Nine members so far, three of them new this week. To see what a build log looks like, open Villain IQ, a member's build. For the numbers side, my own SlotMaps page shows real revenue on a real chart, flat months included.

Tool of the Week: Claude Code

It tops the Tools leaderboard on the site right now, tied with Python and Telegram (two builds each). It's also what runs my AI seats. You describe the job, it does the grind. It will not find you a customer. No affiliate link here; I just use it. See the whole Tools page.

The Poker Brain

No showdown means no information.

When a player never shows a hand, you can't call them weak or strong. You just don't know. My watchdog treated silence as a good read. That's the error.

New rule: if a seat hasn't reported in 12 hours, it's tilted until proven otherwise.
